At Genesis we support realistic values and goals, although the odd treat here or there shouldn’t do you too much damage to your overall weightloss and fitness, we like to keep a keen eye on blood sugar levels and we take steps to ensure a healthy balance.  A basic rule where eating well will reduce or even eliminate the need for such treats. Maintaining your blood sugar level is key to a good diet and, as a result, healthy loss of body fat.

No ‘fad’ miracle diets or no meal replacement drinks/programs that promise unrealistic (and often unhealthy) weightloss will ever be seen here; They are expensive, and they simply do not work in the  long-term.

Instead, we look deep into the world of nutrition and establish a healthy dietary balance custom tailored to each individual.  We have a professionally trained nutritional therapist on hand to assist in helping you achieve and maintain the perfect dietary balance needed.

Quinoa – The Superstar Super-Food

As a Nutritional Therapist, I have known and spoken about the virtues of quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) for years to my clients. However, recently it seems that everyone is talking about it. It tastes great, is suitable for a gluten-free diet, and has numerous health benefits along the way. Here are a few benefits that may interest you:

High in protein - Quinoa consists of nine essential amino acids which are the building blocks for protein. It has more protein compared to rice, millet or wheat making it a good choice for those on higher protein diets, vegans and vegetarians.

Rich in both vitamins and mineral - Quinoa is an excellent source of iron, magnesium, Riboflavin (B2) and manganese.

It is gluten free and wheat free - People who have been advised to avoid these foods from their diet can include quinoa as a nourishing alternative. It can also be used to make porridge, cakes and pastas.

It can help reduce inflammation - Quinoa contains anti-inflammatory phyto –nutrients which may help with inflammation within the body, help repair tissue damage and protect cells from free radical damage.

Helpful in weight management - With its high protein content, low GI index and only 120 calories per 100g, it is a tasty and easy food option for people to eat.
